About Me and Baby Blueberry
Hi
I’m Brittany
I’m DONA International Trained and Educated
I’m here to support you
The name Baby Blueberry, is that of my first baby. I found out I was pregnant at 7-8 weeks, when our little was the size of a blueberry. Sharing the news with family and friends we called the baby, Baby Blueberry. I miscarried at 10 weeks. Through our loss, I have been able to share and support so many others. It was only fitting that my postpartum doula business should be named after the baby that helped make it possible.
I am small but mighty, with all the spice. I am very passionate and goal oriented. I thrive on helping others and organization gives me life.
I have lived many experiences that contribute to my knowledge as a postpartum doula. I am a mother of two living children, married 9 years, and have personally experienced pregnancy loss. I have a sister who has had twins, triplets, loss, and a child in the NICU. I have a sister who was a single mother for the first several years of my nephews life and now lives abroad with her wife, whose recent journey with IVF did not result in a pregnancy. I have supported close friends going through their more than challenging IUI and IVF journeys. I have nannied families small and large (8 children), including fostered and adopted children. I have worked in daycares. I have spent many years loving families and never knew it was something I could do professionally.
Being a postpartum doula is so fulfilling. The ability to reach out and help individuals and families cope with what comes after birth is very special to me. Often the after, the postpartum, is solely focused on a child. There is just so much more than that and the birthing person, support person, siblings, all deserve the kind of care and attention they need during such a challenging, yet wonderful time. Being the village a family needs is all I want to do. Especially for people who may not have any help or may not have the help they need. Supporting people as people.
